Grandmaster Doc-Fai Wong arrived in St. Paul, Minnesota, September 16,
2004 to conduct some seminars over
the weekend at Chinatown Tai Chi Center
with Sifu Phyllis Calph. Friday evening September 17, Grandmaster Wong
taught a class on push hands techniques for 2 hours. September 18, Saturday
morning the Tai Chi forms seminar was
geared for the beginning students of
50 people. Saturday afternoon was an Exhibition open to the public and
attended by
over 100 guests. They saw demonstrations of the tai chi straight
sword, broadsword, staff, and the fighting fan.
Grandmaster demonstrated the
Chasing the Wind Fan Form and Buddha Palm. Simu McRitchie demonstrated a
Lo
Han Fuk Foo form. The local Plum Blossom Kung Fu Schools showed some women’s
self-defense techniques and
performed a two-person staff fighting form. In
the evening, a banquet enjoyed by over 50 students and friends in a
Chinese
restaurant with Grandmaster Wong. September 19, Sunday afternoon Grandmaster
taught the Plum Blossom
Fan Form seminar. The last seminar was a lecture by
Grandmaster about the differences between and the history
of the weapons
used in tai chi. Monday September 20, Sifu Phyllis Calph took Grandmaster
Wong to the largest
shopping mall in the U.S.A., the Mall of America before
his departure back home.
